BLAIR |
|
|
Made to celebrate the
Eclipse of the Sun on August 11th this bear is 13” [33cm tall. Once again,
he is very firmly filled with woodwool shavings and is covered in the
finest two-tone mohair. The two-tone signifies the passing of the moon in
front of the sun. The majority of his left side is in white mohair and the
right side in shadowy grey. This unique teddy is part of a limited edition
of 10 but is actually a one-off, because his pads are covered in 18th
century, blue taffeta [signifying the sky!], and a further supply of this
material could not be obtained for other “Eclipse Bears”. His nose, mouth
and claw stitching are in black twist thread and he has black glass
boot-button eyes. He wears a 30grm [1.3oz] solid silver .5” [1.3cm] deep,
hallmarked collar with buckle design, plus disc with his name and eclipse
date engraved on it. In addition he wears a silver sterling silver [marked
on rear] smiling sun earring. He also has his ‘chapple bears’ label
stitched into his left side. He was named Blair to mark Tony Blair
becoming Prime Minister that year. He is a superior little bear and his
growler gives the same sounding oratory! |
